Our History

West Eagle Films is a full service production company specializing in large format film production, innovative digital film design and multimedia communication tools and exhibits. For over 30 years Director David Douglas has been involved in numerous giant screen productions for IMAX® theaters, science centers and museums around the world.

Over the past twenty years David Douglas and producer Diane Roberts have collaborated on a wide variety of internationally acclaimed projects. The company is committed to excellence in large format images and displays, and so we design and build equipment specifically tuned to the needs of each project.

Working with IMAX® Corporation, we produced and directed the Academy Award nominated Fires of Kuwait. Since then we have completed: Rolling Stones: At the Max, the renowned wildlife documentary, Survival Island (with Sir David Attenborough), The Secret of Life on Earth, Wolves for the National Wildlife Federation, All Access with Ideal Entertainment and Straight Up-Helicopters in Action for the National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institution.

In 2005 we produced Orbital Map, an educational exhibit for the Royal British Columbia Museum. Combining extreme detail from orbiting satellite data, geo-corrected elevation data, digital animation and live action HD video, it is projected onto a 3D map model the stretches 22 feet to the ceiling.

Other assignments of the past ten years include acting as Director of Photography or Large Format Film Consultant on Space Station 3D, Mission to Mir, Shackelton's Antarctic Adventure, Mexico, Alaska, Migrations, Yellowstone, Ride with the Cowboys, Wild Ocean 3D, Journey to Mecca, Hubble 3D, as well as the forthcoming Born to be Wild 3D, an IMAX® Warner Brothers production.
